PassWall on OpenWrt routers
PassWall is a proxy plugin for OpenWrt routers. Once it’s set up on the router, every phone, computer and TV on that network can use it without installing an app on each device.
This guide assumes PassWall is already installed (many OpenWrt firmwares include it). If not, download the luci-app-passwall package matching your OpenWrt version from the project’s GitHub Releases, and add the project’s package source for the core components as described there.
1. Copy your subscription link
- On a computer, open My services → your service → “Get started”.
- Click Copy subscription link.
Your subscription link works like a password — don’t share it or post it anywhere public.
2. Add the subscription
- Open your router’s web admin (LuCI) and go to Services → PassWall → Node Subscribe.
- Click Add below the subscription list to open the subscription editor.
- Enter any Subscribe Remark (e.g. CyberSaury) and paste your link into Subscribe URL.
- We suggest setting Auto Update Mode to “Every day” so node changes sync automatically.
- Click Save & Apply at the bottom of the page.
3. Fetch the nodes
- Back on Node Subscribe, click Manual subscription on the row for your new subscription.
- After a moment, Node num shows how many nodes were fetched. You can also see every node and its latency under Node List.
Click “Save & Apply” on a new subscription before “Manual subscription”.
4. Pick a node and turn it on
- Go to Services → PassWall → Basic Settings.
- Tick Main switch.
- Choose a node from the Proxy Node drop-down.
- Click Save & Apply. After a few seconds the status at the top shows it’s running, and every device on the router is connected.
To switch nodes, pick a different Proxy Node in Basic Settings and click “Save & Apply” again. Leave DNS, shunt and other options at their defaults.
5. Update the subscription
With auto update on, the router refreshes on schedule. To update now, click Manual subscription for your subscription on Node Subscribe, or Manual subscription All.
